The Lake Michigan UFO Wave
Abstract: The late winter and early spring of 1994 marked a high volume of unexplainable and frankly ominous UFO sightings in Michigan and the night of March 8th, 1994, along the western coast of the state, was the peak of this wave.
On that night in question, over 300 known witnesses observed a variety of unusual lights and objects in the sky, resulting in over 60 calls to 911 in the cities along the coast of Lake Michigan. Among the notable observers was a family of four who watched a large colorfully lit metallic disc hover at close range to their home for twenty minutes. This disc was also directly witnessed by a law enforcement officer who was dispatched by the Holland Michigan Police Department to investigate. MUFON collected reports from both the family and the officer immediately following, as well as several other reports from other locals, including a camping couple’s extraordinary account of what they beheld while on the beach of the lake that night.
Perhaps the most compelling evidence was submitted by National Weather Service radar operator Jack Bushong at the Muskegon County Airport situated near the lake’s shore. Bushong surveyed mysterious behavior on the part of several massive unknown aerial objects that he tracked for several hours in the late hours of March 8th.
Due to the high volume of well-documented quality reports and corroborating remarkable evidence that suggests the UFOs were keenly interested in the lake itself, this sighting wave earns its place among the most significant multiple witness UFO events on record.
